Trained Relationship Experts
Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT or LMFT for licensed marriage and family therapist) are relationship experts. We are trained to assess, diagnose and treat individuals, couples, children and families. Our expertise can help people achieve healthier, connected, more satisfying relationships. Marriage and Family Therapists do not give advice or take sides. We assist people in finding solutions that fit not only into to their lives but also their individual values, spiritual beliefs and lifestyles.
The State of California licenses Marriage and Family Therapists. We must undergo extensive education, training, clinical internship and rigorous examination before becoming licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Requirements for licensure include: a minimum of 3,000 hours of supervised experience, a related doctoral or master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, as well as, the passage of two comprehensive examinations. Marriage and Family Therapists are bound by a professional code of law and ethics and are also responsible to continue our education and maintain our competency.
